Piyapong Bhumichitra

Piyapong Bhumichitra began his career as a graphic designer at art4d magazine after graduating from Chulalongkorn University in 2000. For over ten years, he has helped transform art4d into the most renowned architecture, art and design publication in Thailand with his expertise in printed media and became the Art Director in 2003. His role extended beyond graphic design, including that of writer and interviewer. He was involved in the launch of Bangkok Design Festival, a showcase of creative activity in the form of fairs, seminars, exhibitions, lectures and screenings in 2007.

After leaving art4d magazine to pursue a broader range of interests, Piyapong founded Shake & Bake Studio, a graphic design practice based in Bangkok since 2012. As head of design he oversaw a variety of projects ranging from book design for architectural monograph to corporate identity design for an unorthodox hostel in Chiang Mai. Further projects included wayfinding and signage systems for public buildings such as a boutique hospital and hotels to supergraphics such as the national book fair in Bangkok.

In 2016, Piyapong returned to work with art4d magazine as a Co-Editor and also founded a small independent publishing house called ‘Bonsai Books’ with his friend & partner.

Alongside practicing as a graphic designer, Piyapong has been teaching Editorial Design at the Chulalongkorn University since 2015. He was a visiting lecturer at the Bangkok University in the School of Fine and Applied Arts from 2012-2014.
